Ashtalakshmi puja is primarily observed by South Indian Hindu women for their own well-being and their husband's with health and longevity. This festival is celebrated in the "SRAVAN" month of the Hindu calendar shortly before Poornima. It is a age old belief that worshipping Lord Varalakshmi is equivalent to worshipping Ashtalakshmi who represent different forms of wealth.
